Aitik mine

The Aitik mine is the largest open pit in Europe. Copper as well as Silver and Gold are exploited there. The bottom is now below 300 m. By order of Swebrec the lowermost benches were recorded with JointMetriX3D System in order to analyse the blasting results.

It showed the versatility of the JointMetriX3D System. On the one hand the recording is focussed on single benches facilitating a very detailed result on the other hand larger areas up to total views of the whole 300 m height are possible. From the total views it is possible to get information on essential rock mass structures in a simple and riskless way. Especially discontinuity measurements are valuable for stability analyses. The geometric quality of a pit wall can be assessed simply as the inclination of one bench or the whole ensemble.
