Analysis:
A rock face can be analysed and its main structures measured within minutes (see examples below). More detailed assessments can be performed any time even if the rock face is no longer acessible or existing.

  2D and 3D Structural Maps

Utilising a comfortable editor relevant structures can be identified easily an precisely on the reconstructed surface (3D image). Discontinuities or their traces, lithologcal regions or homogeneous areas are tagged. Those structures are represented as coloured leneaments or areas and can be grouped according to necessary requirements, e.g. by discontinuity sets.
From these data, the distribution of trace lengths, joint bridges or orientations are determined easily.

  Measurement of spatial orientations

True lengths and areas in 3D space are identified with a virtual tape measure.
Spatial orientations are measured by the virtual compass-clinometre device that can be positioned freely on the 3D surface.

  Surface analyses
This kind of data acquisition and assessment also enables to analyse surface properties easily.

  Application: Tunnelling

measurement tunnel face
Measurement of geotechnical parameters at the tunnel face. The analysis takes just a couple of minutes and contains distance measurments, discontinuity orientations, and the determination of aeras.

  Application: Quarrying

measurement structures
Surveying at a quarry slope. Measurements taken in tens of metres are possible without physical contact.

  Application: Laboratory Tests
